LASG re-opens Lagos State University

...cough out N51m, the cost of damage property

THE Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, SAN, approves the re-opening of the Lagos State University (LASU) for Monday February 24, in the overriding best interest of the students, as recommended in the report of the Lagos State House of Assembly’s Ad-hoc Committee on the LASU crisis.
The Governor also approved the sum of N51 million for the repairs of damaged property and facilities in the higher institution based on the assessment done by the Lagos State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure.
The statement advised the students to keep the peace and be of good conduct.
It will be recalled that the institution was shut down indefinitely on 23rd of January closed to the examination period, owing to the crisis that erupted over the closure of the school’s portal, which consequently denied a total of 1,292 students access to registration, the process which needed to be completed before they can be permitted to seat for the exam.
However enraged student who besieged the State House of Assembly, in the company of activist from the civil society recently, vowed that should the school be reopened on 24th they would disregard the school internal calendar which separated the finalist from other larger chunk of students, as it regards resumption and would dare any security measure set to ensure compliance.
