EGBE-IDIMU-IKOTUN BEAUTY PAGEANT donates to school

(Caption)The Managing Director, Vast Stream Limited, Mr. Ogboka Ebiware Thomas, (in black suit), flanked on the right by Miss Uthman Olabisi Shakira, the reigning Queen of  Egbe-Idimu-Ikotun Beauty Pageant, and the company’s pageant team members, Miss Olasunbomi Osho, Miss Olakitan Ojo, and Mr. Alex Elege, on a visit to Muslim Junior College, Egbe, Lagos.


The initiator of the annual  Egbe-Idimu-Ikotun Beauty Pageant, and MD of Vast Stream Ltd, Lagos, Ogboka Ebiware has said the pageant is aimed at African traditional values as well is a the promotion of  education for the universal advancement of women in the locality.

According to Thomas, “The aim of this educational /entertainment event is to reach out to young women, and to provide a positive platform that would bring forth the best of the young pageant hopefuls. The platform harnesses their innate capabilities to build talent, self-confidence, and a positive drive for success.”

He further enlightened that, “The beauty pageant team consists of young and vibrant men and women whose mission is to promote the development of an environment that optimises the potentials of contestants, and to support them in developing into mature and responsible adulthood.”
As one of the objectives of the event, the winner of the beauty pageant serves as an inspirational role model to the youth of the area; helping them to believe in themselves that anything, and everything positive is achievable by commitment and hard work with focus.

The Vast Stream boss further added that, “Any lady that wins the crown, reign for a period of twelve months, and engage in various advocacy projects that address some socio-economic problems in the locality. These issues include; child abuse, child marriage, female circumcision, infrastructural development in the locality. She is also expected to donate books made available by Vast Stream Limited to schools for academic development.”

As part of its corporate social responsibility, Vast Stream Ltd and the reigning queen, Miss Uthman Olabisi Shakira, have visited some schools to donate books, and also delivered short lectures on ‘Time Management,’ to students within the Egbe Idimu and Ikotun LCDAs in Lagos state.
Speaking on behalf of Vast Stream Limited, the reigning queen of the 2013/2014 reigning queen said, “The programme is a way of giving back to the society and improving the quality of lives in the communities.  The project is also aimed at improving study habits among students.”
While delivering lecture, Shakira enjoined students to always use their time wisely as time and opportunities wait for nobody.
