• Chukwu Lauds FG and Chinese Government

THE Honourable Minister of Health, Professor C.O Onyebuchi Chukwu has lauded the government of the People's Republic of China for their assistance in building and equipping of the 150  bed Federal Staff Hospital in Abuja.

He stated this during the commissioning ceremony performed by the Vice  President His Excellency Mohammed Namadi Sambo.

“Let me once again thank the government of the People's Republic of China for their kind gesture to see to the building and equipping of this edifice. I assure you that Nigeria will continue to collaborate with the Chinese government” He said.

GOVERNOR Godswill Akpabio has promised to reopen abandoned technical schools in Akwa Ibom State. The two affected schools are, the Technical Colleges, Ikot Ada Idem, Ibiono Ibom and Ukana-Ikot Ntuen, Essien Udim local government areas of the state.

Akpabio, who said the decision was premised on the fact that technical colleges were vital for the acquisition of skills necessary for self-reliance, spoke in Uyo during the presentation of the 2013 budget proposal to the state House of Assembly.

GOVERNOR Emmanuel Uduaghan has presented a budget proposal of N398.31 billion for the 2013 fiscal year with promise to address the challenges of jobs creation, ensuring peace and security, reducing poverty, building infrastructure and growing Edo State's economy.

Presenting the proposals in Asaba on the floor of the House Chambers, Uduaghan said the amount comprised N145.94 billion or 36.64 per cent for Recurrent Expenditure and N252.37 billion or 63.36 per cent for capital expenditure.

GOVERNOR Godswill Akpabio has presented the 2013 budget proposal of N459.305billion to the State House of Assembly. Akpabio who said the budget will consolidate on the gains so far achieved in projects development, gave a breakdown of the estimates to be N118.790billion for recurrent expenditure and N340.515billion for capital projects, representing a capital ratio of 1:3.

AS the finalists for the prestigious CNN Multichoice African Journalists Award was announced, National Daily, Guardian and Next Newspapers will be competing among the 34 journalists selected from 42 countries in the continent that applied for the competition.
National Daily's Head, Entertainment, Arts Desk, Mr. Ahaoma Kanu, Mr. Tunde Akingbade, a Freelance reporter for the Guardian will be joined by NEXT on Sunday crew of Peter Nkanga, Elor Nkereuwem, Musikilu Mojeed & Idris Akinbajo to represent Nigeria in competition with the other finalists selected from 12 countries  of the continent for over 16 categories which will be awarded at a gala ceremony in Lusaka, Zambia on the 21st of July 2012.
