LA Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort, Nigeria's premier seaside hospitality and leisure property is celebrating the successful connection of the resort to the national grid, ten years after it began operation.

Located at Ikegun Village in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos State, the resort was hooked to Power Holding Company of Nigeria [PHCN] this year. Mr. Wanle Akinboboye, founder of the Resort said that though, public power supply is erratic across the country, the few hours that the facility will enjoy power will save the resort a lot of resources.

THE Seventh Annual Ecotourism and Sustainable Tourism Conference (ESTC) will take place in Kenya's capital city of Nairobi between September 24-27 this year, bringing together stakeholders from Africa and around the world to discuss sustainable development and how tourism can help developing countries to fight poverty among fast-growing populations.

Hosted jointly by the Kenya Tourism Board and the Ecotourism Society of Kenya, the event is organized by the International Ecotourism Society in close cooperation with the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

TOURISTS have been advised to stay away from Kenya's beaches after it emerged that gangs of young men have been training in forest camps to disrupt Monday's election.

Police, fearing a repeat of violence that scarred the 2007 presidential poll, arrested 12 men from the self-styled Mombasa Republican Council on Thursday.

“They were planning to attack election officials and materials and scare people from voting through violence,” one senior police officer said.

“Violence is our only solution,” a senior member of a coastal secessionist gang in Likoni, a shanty close to beaches popular with tourists south of Mombasa, warned. “We are trained. We are prepared.”

EMIRATES, one of the world's fastest growing airlines, were welcomed by Barcelona El Prat Airport as the airline brought its popular A380 aircraft for a one-off service. This is the first ever scheduled service of an Emirates A380 to Spain. The A380 service will also operate on 1 March 2013.

The special A380 flight, operated by Captain Abbas Shaban, head of the Emirates A380 fleet, and First Officer Juan Muelledes, a Spanish national, touched down this morning at Barcelona El Prat Airport.   The aircraft, at full capacity with 517 passengers, was welcomed by key officials including: Sonia Corrochano, Director of Barcelona  El Prat Airport and Richard Font, Generalitat, Routes Committee President.

FLIGHT Stats, the global leader in flight and airport information services, recently announced On Time Performance Service Awards (OTPS Awards) for airlines across the globe. SAA, with its 91.17% On Time Performance average, won in the category 'Middle East and Africa Major Airlines'.
